Death metal mavens Whitechapel moved to the Metal Blade label for 2008's THIS IS EXILE, their fourth full-length assault. Propelled by the band's three-guitar attack, THIS IS EXILE slays listeners with grinding riffs, crushing rhythms, and monstrous, growling vocals. Whitechapel throw in progressive elements, too, including time signature changes and startlingly melodic leads, but overall the album lives up to the band's musically punishing and ferociously evil aesthetic. Fans of grindcore and death metal will have plenty to feast on with this one.
